Colijnsplaat (Netherlands)
A dike section in Noord-Beveland was washing sand along with the seepage water almost every time there was high water, a form of piping. The sand ended up in the ditch behind the dike. The water board had to have a few lorry loads of sand removed every year.
After installation of a predecessor of the current DMC along a 150-metre length of dike, the washing away of sand stopped.
