Around 17,000 kilometres of dikes protect the Netherlands against flooding. The Dike Monitoring and Conditioning System (DMC) prevents these dikes from collapsing. Thanks to the DMC, traditional dike reinforcement is only rarely necessary.

The DMC offers the prospect of a safer Netherlands and significant cost savings for dike managers. It also fits in perfectly with the Flood Protection Programme, in which the state and water boards cooperate intensively to protect the Netherlands against floods.
